Breakfast guide - Salida, CO

Updated: Nov 20, 2023

Starting out your morning right is an absolute must on any vacation! Here are a few of the places we love.

Mojo's Eatery $$ - Mojo's is new in town and they sure are making a splash! This is a fantastic family-owned eatery serving up some of the more unique breakfasts in town. We love the short rib hash or biscuits and gravy when we are feeling indulgent. With plenty of outdoor seating, this is a great spot to bring the whole family - fur babies included! This is also the closest to Blue Coyote Ranch, so a perfect stop on your way out exploring.

Howard General Store $ - Howard General is the closest coffee shop to us, and we are oh so lucky! This is the place to go for espresso, tea and other cold drinks. Howard General has a host of grab 'n' go items including treats and snacks, and small breakfast items. They are also a fantastic place to pick up a little gift, they have quirky and fun items from around the globe.

Robin's $$ - We almost hesitate to share this one since it often misses the tourist rush in our high season, but hey - we like you. Robin's is best described as elevated diner-fare - mouth watering avocado benedict or chicken fried steak are go-to orders for us. Everything is homemade, so expect a little bit longer of a wait. In the summer, their riverside patio is a wonderful and dog-friendly setting. Winter guests will enjoy the indoor ambiance as well - cute decor and a fireplace keep you warm while you enjoy your coffee.

Delicious spread of pastries at The Biker & The Baker

The Biker and the Baker $$$ - This wonderful brunch establishment almost makes me feel like I'm living in New York City again: these menu options would dazzle even in the big city! Highly Instagrammable, the decor here is one of my favorites in town. Try the Biker Benny or a perfect pastry from the professional pastry chef/owner. If you are arriving after 9 am or so, plan to put your name in and take a stroll next to the river as you wait. It's worth it. Open Thursday - Saturday at time of writing.

Mo' Burrito $ - True to its name, once you have one of these burritos you're going to want mo'! The perfect place for a quick grab & go breakfast, you can choose among several fillings including vegetarian and multiple meat options. Be aware their breakfast burritos are not customizable so it may not be the best choice for specific diets or picky eaters. However, this system makes Mo' the quickest place to get a bite in the morning. Do not miss out on the avocado salsa!
