Some weddings feel like they could belong to anyone, but Mika and Drew’s wedding was not one of them. From the moment guests arrived at Blue Coyote Ranch, it was clear this day had a very specific point of view: disco cowboy, mountain views, handmade details, and a dance floor that would never be boring.

Every part of their wedding felt customized, with the theme intentional, the guests' outfits fully committed, and the decor almost entirely created by the couple and their loved ones. Instead of bringing in a wedding design that could be recreated anywhere, Mika and Drew transformed the venue into a wedding that was completely their own.

That's one of the best things about getting married here. Blue Coyote Ranch gives couples the space to create a wedding weekend that feels like you. Relaxed and rooted in the beauty of Salida, Colorado, without sacrificing the mountain views, guest experience, or celebration space that make a wedding feel effortless.

Handmade Details Everywhere You Looked

One of the most memorable parts of Mika and Drew’s wedding was how much of it they made themselves. Spoiler alert: all of the decor was DIY.

The colorful fringe hanging throughout the reception tent, the vinyl record centerpieces, the signs, the ceremony design, and the record seating chart were all part of the couple’s vision.

Drew’s seating chart was made from records, which felt very them, and guests found their names on colorful labels across the albums before heading into the tent for dinner.

Inside the white tent, the tables had bright linens, vintage glassware, disco balls, wildflower-style flowers, and album details worked into the decor. Nothing felt too perfect or overly matched, which made the whole reception feel more fun.

For couples planning a wedding at Blue Coyote Ranch, this is such a good example of how flexible the space can be. The ranch can support a polished, classic wedding just as beautifully as a bold, colorful, completely custom one. Mika and Drew chose the second option, and it worked beautifully because it felt like them!

A Mountain Ceremony with a Disco Cowboy Twist

Mika and Drew held their ceremony outdoors with the Rocky Mountains stretching behind them. The ceremony space at Blue Coyote Ranch is naturally beautiful, with wide-open views, a stone-lined aisle, and a peaceful mountain backdrop. For this wedding, the couple added handmade ceremony pieces, including the wood altar design Drew created himself.

The result was the perfect balance between a Colorado mountain wedding and a playful personal style. Guests arrived in full cowboy disco country attire, including western hats, fringe, bright colors, boots, bolo ties, and just enough sparkle to make the whole ceremony feel like the start of a great party. Rather than feeling super formal, the ceremony felt warm, relaxed, full of personality, and full of love.

A White Tent Reception Filled with Color

After the ceremony, guests moved into a white-tent reception filled with handmade details and bright disco-cowboy energy.

The tent created a defined reception space while keeping everyone connected to the outdoors. Guests could enjoy dinner, drinks from Luna Libations, mountain air, and the feeling of being tucked into the ranch without losing the comfort and flow of a well-planned reception.

Settings Event Rentals helped bring the reception setup together, providing the event rentals that support so many Blue Coyote Ranch weddings. Their pieces formed the foundation for the couple’s handmade design, letting Mika and Drew’s colorful decor shine.

For these two, that meant bright fringe, vinyl records, disco balls, glowsticks,

and a reception that doubled as a mountain dance party.

Like many Colorado mountain weddings, the weather even brought a little drama. During portraits, rain rolled through, adding that unpredictable mountain-wedding energy Colorado is known for, but instead of taking away from the day, it became part of the story.

Luckily for them, the Salida mountain views are beautiful in every kind of weather. Sunny skies make the mountains feel wide open, while passing storms bring texture, movement, and dramatic clouds that make portraits feel even more memorable. Mika and Drew’s portraits had that perfect Colorado mix of mountain views, soft rain, open fields, and a couple fully embracing all the unpredictable moments that come with getting married.

A Reception That Fully Delivered

Once the party started, Mika and Drew’s wedding became exactly what they wanted: a party.

There were shot skis, glowsticks, and disco balls; there was a flamingo passed around for drinks, and there was a vinyl DJ who came straight out of everyone's imagination.

Doubleheads brought an all-vinyl DJ experience, which could not have been a better fit for a wedding built around records, music, and retro-inspired design.

Mika also changed into a white country romper for the reception, complete with a white cowboy hat and attached veil. It was the perfect second look for the night, adding to the western vibe.

This is the kind of wedding moment we love to see. The formal parts of the day are beautiful, but the property also gives couples space to relax into the celebration and let the night become whatever they want it to be.

Why Blue Coyote Ranch Was the Right Fit

Mika and Drew’s wedding is such a good example of what Blue Coyote Ranch does best: be flexible.

The ranch gave them a mountain ceremony site that didn’t need much added to feel special, a tented reception space they could completely transform, and enough room for guests to move from vows to dinner to dancing. Their disco-cowboy theme added color and spirit, but the property gave the whole wedding a sense of place.

Mika and Drew made the ranch feel like their own. They brought in records, bright colors, handmade details, and music-inspired decor, while the property gave guests the mountain views and open space that make a Colorado wedding feel special.

For couples looking for a Salida wedding venue with mountain views, space for personality, and room for a celebration that does not feel cookie-cutter, Blue Coyote Ranch is made for days exactly like this.
